  1. Technology is going to advance no matter what, the problem is not technology, the problem is human. The question is, human integrity, compassion, and understanding can equal that technology or not. So instead of trying to stop technology and science, better train human being to be able to cope with the growth of technology.

  2. Facing the rep of a 21century Stalin applicant. To the least, Ren is a materialist and neither has idea about the existential danger nor wishes to address it, he represents a regime who plays fire and pushes limits.

  3. I've watched Harari having conversations with these so-called big shots in tech and AI: Zuckerberg, Fei-fei Li, now Huawei CEO. None of them can match Harari's intelligence and mind. They just talk round and round about cliches (i.e. people are kind by nature; technology generally does more good than bad; people start out being afraid of a new tech but later they learn it's good at all, etc etc) without realizing they are talking like a teenager mind in front of a mature mind like Harari. We need more far-sighted sharp minds in tech, folks!

  4. CEOs are similar to politicians in the way they address the public. Leaders from the establishment always talk in the safest terms possible since there are so much at stake for them. So I do not blame Ren personally for painting the future in the brightest way. He definitely is not a dumb optimist, as suggested by his company's strategic preparations for US sanctions, which he mentioned in the talk. I would take away from this conversation the last point which interestingly are shared by both, that is, individuals should also be able to take advantage of such tech advancement to fight against government/corporate surveillance and for collective emancipation.

  5. Either the Huawei CEO is acting stupid or he really does not understand the nature of intelligence and human nature.

  6. The translator didn't reassure me one bit. He talked about rules and limits as concepts only, whereas YNH says we urgently need to have that proper discussion now – before it's too late!

If you remove so many of the jobs with AI and automation, what are the bored, restless people without any purpose going to do? History answers that question, so the antidote is to control and suppress the jobless masses. In the past they were occupied building pyramids. Those with power, know this too, so obviously they have a plan. Just not shared with us yet! How "useful" would adapted bio-tech be in this future scenario….

  7. China really needs to go nuclear, they burn more coal than anybody. its not necessarily there fault, because they have so many people, but still. so important china goes nuclear or the atmosphere will get torched.

  8. Its interesting these germs pick a country with a real uptight bent about rules and laws, Switzerland is the ultimate nanny state from what Ive seen…just remember billionaires without the grid, without your toys, you are nothing…

  9. Technology is how human intelligence is most strongly manifested. This conversation is primarily about the nature of the singularity. The Prof.’s has always said that he isn’t anti-tech but simply balancing out the conversation from Silicon Valley – I think these conversations are – especially this one, since unlike a conversation (that I would between one of my other favorite authors, Ray Kurzweil) like this includes one of the power players whose opinion – formed by, luckily, more than Trump’s horrifying, essentially Luddite (although that trend did begin with the ban on stem cell research and the lack of scientific literacy is the reason that is allowed to continue – why if I get burned badly here I am fucked, while for example as a Wired article like two years ago, in Europe hospitals don’t even have burn units given the use of stem cells).

  10. When one really manages to see something from the bottom of the abyss, the warning has also seen in the back of your mind. When artificial intelligence or government really understands the bottom of the mentality of some group of humans or human being, then part of that human being will have changed the observer. at that higher level hatred and resentment and prejudice vanish. we live in the universerve or relevances the meaning are links

  11. Something bothering about Prof. Harari is where he comes from. I like the way he analyses things but I really wonder if he is truly a believer in truth, I wonder why such an enlightening icon name should appear next to the imagination of Israel I have in mind ? He could have chosen his name association to any university he liked due to his publicity. Are you really talking about something new or you are risen up because Netahnyaho believes if you are good scientifically people should forget about some aspects of your past cruelty ? Your security there my friend depends on large technological imbalance. You yourself are a conflict of interest between truth and technological imbalance .

  12. The idea of having AI know people better than they know themselves [22:22] is complete sleight of hand, to hide the truth. Socrates gives us the maxim "Know thyself." But we have version 2.0: "Know thyself. If you need more information, consult the CIA." Meaning that Big Brother already has this information. The question is, who wants to hack you? If anyone has enough power to hack you, that being has so much power, and you are so insignificant, there would be no point to hack you. Indeed, that being would have already accomplished its own desires, and if that being has any desire to thwart you, you would be rendered long before you even think to have a desire that is worth consideration. This is why hacking people is a self contradictory notion. AI might be used to uphold power, but it's really silly to use it for micromanagement. It would be less expensive to render someone by simply dangling diversions.

  13. U got a stupid professor arguing. If given a knife u use it to cut meat or u use with evil intent such as robbing n killing ppl. Any tools given u use it for good or bad intend

  14. Convince me why a world that is ruled by a handful oligarchs and billionaires who want to create a totalitarian dictatorship is supposed to be a better world? Bill Gates went to the patent office in the US to register a chip that will be implanted under the peoples skin and then all people can be controlled at any time. We already had a time in history where humans were marked with a number. We had a time where non conform behaviour could lead to imprisonment, torture or even death. Do we really want these times to come back? A one world government will automatically lead to a dictatorship. Do we really want these old times back again?

  15. This technology is being built by the elite and their intention is not in the best interest of the masses rather it is designed to initiate a totalitarian world or NWO. Enslavement of humanity is wrong.

  16. AI is always in the hands of some powerful people, these people are interlinked with the goverments. They will not allow to use new inventions to prevent corruption for only one reason, there will be no-one left to rule the contries.
