A couple of things – did this video with my teleprompter and am very curious what ya'll think! Also, got a bit of a different look with this vid – I filmed it with my C300 MkII and used a custom-made LUT from our ol' friend Cody Jones! Lemme know what you think! Lastly – what hard drive are YOU using to edit your videos??? Thanks for watching!

how to saving project simultaneously on two disc a same time in FCPX, SSD external and internal Mac disc? It is possible at all? I have problem with randomly disconnecting external drive all the time, so i moved whole library of project on internal disc, but everything can happen. And would be great to have saving project on two discs in real time. Many thanks for any advice and help anyway 🙂

Thanks for an excellent video …. I’m primarily a stills shooter and looking to move to an M1 iMac or MacMini and trying to find a similar video for recommendations for photo editing in LR. At the moment looking at a 1TB internal plus I ideally need 3-4 TB external …. Mainly archive, but will often go go and edit older images, so can’t be too slow

Hi, I need your help seriously I am stuck by myself and I can not make buying decision. I am a photographer and I do photo and videos but not in a big capacity I can tell you this, my entire unorganized ( witch I am planing to organize) data are 4TB. i am planing to upgrade my camera to Sony Alpha 1 witch is good for photo and video. I do travel and I have a SanDisk 1TB Extreme PRO Portable SSD to store my data. my current workflow is as this date transfer from my SanDisk 1TB Extreme PRO Portable SSD to my iMAC 5K with 1TB storage and do editing. Due to my Data volume I transfer yearly Data to my G-DRIVE with Thunderbolt 4TB and backing it up with the Carbon copy cloner to LaCie 6TB Thunderbolt. My iMAC also will backup by Time Machine automatically. I plan to buy a storage system to transfer my data from my SanDisk Extreme PRO Portable SSD to and start work on my data off the iMAC. also I am looking for backup RAID system. Maybe you can advice me better workflow system and I will appreciate it.

SSDs are mega expensive! I am new to all of this so if anyone can help with a affordable SSD. Otherwise I might have to just get an external hard drive. But from what I have researched so far hard drives are not good for mobile people because of the moving parts inside the drive that get messed up from moving around a lot. I am very mobile. I go to college and skate literally everywhere. I am not sure whether getting an external hard drive is a good idea, but none of the links in the description for SSDs are affordable for me. I am also barely beginning to film and edit, so I do not know if getting an SSD right off the bat is a good idea. Please help.

Thank you for the video! I am a beginner when it comes to video editing. I have a MacBook Pro and use Final Cut Pro for editing. Due to my small internal storage, I end up deleting project files and the media used after the project is completed. I know this isn't ideal especially in case clients may need future revisions. Which hard drive option would you recommend?

You recommended the T5 samsung, do you recommend the T5 over the T7. I’m shooting and editing on my iPhone. And I’m running into a storage space issue on my iPhone. I have 2TB of iCloud space. But for some reason the iCloud files are still on my phone. Anyways. I think an external drive is the way to go, that way I can dump footage while on a shoot on the go. If I’m not connected to wifi is that even possible?

Good analysis, what about 10GBe NAS? I feel like this is the main way forward for the future.

Immobile = stationary

ok, the quality of this video was amazing. As someone who isn't tech-literate, you made me feel really comfortable taking in this knowledge. I tend to be really organized, but my laptop is now struggling to free up space. I do plan on living in another state half of the year soon, so I imagine something mobile but organized would be for me???

Might I suggest the word stationary as opposed to immobile;) Thanks for the video.

I read on an Amazon review that Seagate's crappy quality and crappy customer service completely ruined LaCie and that LaCie drives are now garbage.

I literally Laughed out Loud when you said that "if your disorganized, you may not be terribly careful with an external hard drive that has a spinning disc inside." bahahaha

Well…..I was going to make a video all about storage options for editors, but I think you covered everything that could possibly be covered. So eloquently explained and incredibly put together Matthew!
