  1. Hi Karl (or anyone)! If you have the drives on RAID1 (mirrored), take one of the drives home and do some editing with it – what happens when you slide it back into the dock? Does it automatically update the other drive to make it a mirror?

  2. DO NOT GET A NEW IMAC WITH EL CAPITAIN AND THINK YOU CAN SET UP G-TECH EV WITH RAID. APPLE HAS TAKEN AWAY THAT OPTION TO SET UP RAID AND G-TECH WONT HELP OR SUPPORT YOU WITH THIS PROBLEM. LIKE SO MANY THINGS THAT ARE OUT OF THE NORM. G-TECH JUST TELLS YOU THEY CAN'T HELP. BUY ANOTHER SYSTEM. SORRY KARL IF YOUR MARRIED TO THIS COMPANY BUT I BOUGHT ON YOUR RECOMMENDATIONS AND NOW CANT USE THE SYSTEM.

  3. Another great video Karl. However, I have learned that setting these up for use with Windows machines is not so easy. Drives need reformatting and I'm still awaiting details of setting up the Raid configuration because all of the enclosed paperwork and the software to manage the drives appears to be for Apple.

  4. Love your videos…curious though so starting to research. These are hard drives in protective cases, so not sure dropping on the ground is wise. G Technology makes SSD drives which I think would be better suited to being bashed about. Do you have any experience with those?

  5. Hi karl, thanks for the tip. Do you use cloud backups like crashplan? Dropbox? I myself am looking for another backup system of my already umm backups :p

  6. Can you use a program like AIDA64 to do a full read test of the drive, then check the SMART data to see what temperatures the drive hits while in that case. (the case seems like it will really shorten the life of it due to the heat).

  7. Have you got any systems in network to connect between your workplace (studio) and office (the editing space) so that you don't have to carry the drives after shoot.? Also how long do you promise your client about the backup data ? THANK YOU for sharing 🙂
